Any of you read his reviews? Is he to be trusted, how are they?
>>
He's funny.
Reviews are never to be trusted, they're only worth reading after you've already heard the album in question and are interested in seeing a different perspective on it.
>>
He is fun, but very subjective.
>>
I liked him a lot. Especially because he didn't put on airs about himself. His reviews did influence my taste in a way. I got into Kiss, Rush and Yes after reading his articles, and stopped believing into p4k indie meme.

He is a bit low-brow, but at least he's honest and says what he thinks.

How do you filter what you'll listen to then? One reivewer isn't to be trusted, but many, like metacritic or other sources are good as a pointer at least. Also, to find stuff. Currently looking through Mark's 10/10s

his reviews are hilarious, I don't agree with a lot of em but they're worth reading

he mostly/only does dadpunk tho

Prindle is the best.

Well, he's a person after all.
>>
I love him, wish he would come back.

His Miles Davis reviews were shit tho
>>
George Starostin's are better.
>>
I like him, but he did deter me from checking out jazz for a long time. I recommend ignoring his jazz reviews entirely. They aren't good.

Listen to it and form your own opinions

Recommendations from friends, exploring record labels, listening to shit I see artists I like talk about in interviews, exploring the histories and niches of genres I'm into etc.

yeah, but you gotta get the albums from somewhere. Forums like these are good though.

Takes a lot of time though, but it's thorough I guess, and it's gotta be satisfying finding a real gem. I look at a lot of best of this and that genre, decade and etc. Don't you run into a lot of not so great music with this method?
