I read an interview with him not long ago. He's a hilariously grumpy old man.
Q: So you're 74 this year. How's your playing holding up?
A: Well, I can't play as fast or as long as I used to but I can still lay a mean groove down.
Q: You've always considered yourself a jazz drummer more than a rock drummer.
A: I never was a rock drummer. That's a label you critics gave me. I was a jazz drummer who just happened to play rock.
Q: But all the stuff you did in Cream and Blind Faith was rock, was it not?
A: It's not rock, it's called good music.
Q: What music do you like? What's the last record you listened to that really moved you?
A: Couldn't tell you the last one. I don't listen to music.
Q: Why?
A: Because I don't.
Q: But it's what you do for a living.

Also he met Chad Smith somewhere and the latter asked him if he'd ever heard of RHCP. Baker said "Sure." When Smith asked "What do you think of our music?" he just said "How do I know? I don't listen to RHCP."
