No, it's pretty incredible if maybe expensive...probably worth it. Teenage Engeneering also released some inexpensive little pocket synths and drummachines that are VERY cool. And they have a new synth or drum machine coming out but it's priced similar to the op-1.

I had one of these a few years back. Was pretty awesome on its own, but was useless via midi with my other gear.

Sold it for $500 and a novation bass station rack.

The bass station was great. I sold that off to buy the keyboard version of the bass station.

You can definitely do some spot on acid house stuff with it.
