Be honest /mu/, how many of these did you know before browsing ?
>me 4/12
I was actually surprised to see burial and gy!be, that's what attracted me to the board.
If you were here before mucore, have a fedora tip sir.
Knew 9, listened to 5
STGSTV was my gateway
I knew 8 of those before coming here. Once I found out that those albums were discussed extensively on here it encouraged me to stick around. The four I didn't know beforehand were STGSTV, Untrue, Exmilitary and American Football. I used to hear about most music from either rate your music and a youtube channel called Velocities in Music.
6
I knew Loveless, Kid A, ITCOTCK, Remain in Light, & MBDTF.
Before browsing I only listened to Kid A and Loveless
>>64311493
Just Talking Heads , Radiohead and King Crimson tbqh f a m
I was a metalfag when I came her in 2010, didn't know any but Radiohead and Talking Heads by name
8
>>64311493
Knew 8
Listened to 5
>>64311493
ITAOTS (used to be shitposted in /b/ a lot)
Kid A
Remain In Light
ITCOTCK
MBDTF
>>64311493
I knew 9/12 before coming, mainly from watching theneedledrop
listened to 4/12 prior
>>64312782
This without the metalfag part.
Three of those albums hadn't been released yet when i started browsing
Knew of Kid A, American Football, and ITAOTS, but had only listened to the first two in full.
2 haha
Big radiohead fan since high school
Talking heads, dad has on vinyl, never listened
none i came here to discover new music and thats what i did
>>64311493
I'm a little older than most of /mu/ (26), but I'm genuinely surprised that people with even a slight interest in music aren't already familiar with all of these.
>>64313586
most ppl here are teenagers.
>>64311493
Kid A
Exmilitary
Mom knew Talking Heads
Who doesn't know Kanye? (don't like Kanye)
In the meme over the meme
When i joined this board (september 2015) i already knew all of them.
>>64311493
Knew 2/12, listened to none. I used to listen metal and italian music
>>64313586
I'm 25, we are really that old?
>>64313713
>>64313586
There are people 10 years younger than you guys on /mu/
>>64313713
>>64313730
These are pretty much the same essentials as six years ago - this is the kind of stuff we might have listened to aged 15-19 when a lot of posters now were still in primary school
It's more reflective of what we would have listened to as edgy as fuck teenagers than anything else
>>64313586
>>64313713
i think a lot of /mu/ is in their mid to late 20s. i know i can't be the only one that grew with /mu/. im 26, about to be 27 in august and i've been here from around 07
>>64311493
everything but burial. i was never into that type of electronic music. I only really enjoy 6 of these albums
>>64311493
10/12
I didn't know STG/STV or Burial
>>64311493
5/12
>>64311493
6/12
The only I recognized was ITAOTS and at the time I thought it was a bad hipster-core album so I was surprised to see it there.
Tbh, I I knew of KID A, MBDTF, Remain in light, ITCOTCK, and ITAOTS before I browsed /mu/. But ITCOTCK was the only one I've listen to before I browsed /mu/.
All of them except for Spirits maybe
>>64311493
I knew 5
>>64311493
I knew all of these pretty well except for American Football, never heard of them before.
Just radiohead and talking heads.
I started browsing when I was in like eighth grade though.
Also it was before DG and MBDTF were released.
Literally all of them. These are not obscure in any way you fags
I knew 8, had listened to 7.
I feel like American football is a stain on this chart, it doesn't even compare with the rest. It's not terrible, but not remarkable in any way. (I dislike MBDTF but I understand why some like it)
>>64313713
>>64313774
I'm 29. I started coming here in 2009, I was 22. Yet, I'm on the impression that most guys here today are under 22.
>>64315326
Honestly the last 3 are a stain for me, I don't like Loveless or burial but I can understand the appeal
>>64313586
>>64313713
>>64313774
>>64315340
I'm 25, going on 26. We're not that rare
>>64311493
I knew kanye, exm, american fb, radiohead and loveless
talking heads and king crimson
that was back in '09 when I was 17
>>64311493
Knew all of them. Listened to 8.
>>64315378
Shhh, you'll be hanged for disliking DG here (I don't rate them either tbqh)
>>64311493
Kid A
Spiderland
ITCotCK
LYSFLATH
Loveless is the only one I found from browsing here and I'm not even a big fan of it (or the vast majority of /mu/core trash).
All of them except American Football, but that's okay because it's not actually a good album.
>>64311493
Only MBDTF
>>64315340
30 here
This place is being overrun with kids these days though.
8/12. I probably would have discovered more without /mu/ had I stayed off /mu/.
>>64311493
ITCOTCK, Kid A, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
For some reason I didn't hear about Remain in Light until a few weeks ago. Only knew Talking Heads from Psycho Killer and Burning Down the House, didn't love them so I wasn't too interested. Turned out to be fucking amazing.
>>64315340
I'm 22, almost 23
Can we kill this "/mu/core" meme? Literally all of these albums are popular and acclaimed in almost every musical publication or forum. You are not special for liking them, nor do they "belong" to /mu/ in any sense.
>>64311493
0/12.
and
i've only listened to 8/12 so far
>>64311493
0/12 but only because I listened almost exclusively to Metallica and Slayer before coming here
i came here because someone posted an """"""""""""alternative""""""""""""" hiphop chart on /b/ so i listened to death grips
now i have no friends and i sit in my room listening to memes please kill me
6/12
I started ITAOTS but didn't like it desu senpai
I'll never listen to the hip-hop portion of /mu/core cause not quite my tempo
>>64311493
1 and i need to listen to 2 on that list still
