I'm looking for the most EVIL, COLD, DARK black metal bands.
Emphasis on evil. A lot of newer black metal seems to either copy whats been done before and come off inorganic or completely lack the wretched, chaotic feeling.

These guys for example, they're doom metal, but they're probably the most genuinely disgustingly raw and evil band I know of.

You'd think it'd be easy to find modern black metal that sounds black. Should I start with death metal? Quality black metal vs a disproportionate amount of death metal is akin to tension and grossout horror.

Ever listen to Revenge?
Gorgoroth's Twilight of the Idols is pretty good too. If you're willing to try something a little different, Ghola's There Is Nothing is a pretty good avant-garde black metal album, the first time I heard it I put it on in the middle of the night and got genuinely frightened by it which I don't think had ever happened to me before with music.
