Well if you didn't think Blackstar or Have you in My Wilderness were exceptional, I wouldn't expect Gorillaz to do anything for you. But Gorillaz are actually really special. Way more ecclectic and varied than fucking daft punk. Daft punk is mindless alt-techno to me. Gorillaz is full of messages and tiny moments of genius a-la death grips or animal collective.

I've never really been able to get into Tindersticks even though they seem like something I'd like. If you haven't listened to that Sivert Hoyem album you might like that if you like Tindersticks as it's similar chamber pop stuff.
