Discuss Shoegaze, Dream Pop, Blackgaze and everything similar that your dirty mind can think of
any recs for any shoegazy-post hardcore stuff? or progressive shoegaze would be cool too.
Just starting to get into Shoegaze. Where do I start? (Apart from Ride, MBV and Slowdive)
How do you guys like Dream Suicides?
Listen here: https://dreamsuicides.bandcamp.com/track/its-better-not-to-say-anything-2
More like this? I've listened to all of their other albums and nothing really sounds like it.
I need noisy shit.
Is pic related proto-shoegaze?

whirr gets a lot of hate because they upset some people on the internet but you should check out their stuff. it's pretty nice.

Chapterhouse, Catherine Wheel, Pale Saints, The Veldt
>>64285058
i guess if you count anything that's psychedelic/space-y/ambient as proto-shoegaze, but something tells me the big shoegaze bands weren't listening to much krautrock

mass of fermenting dregs
Is there any band as good as Whirr around?
>>64286804
Distressor was the only good thing they've ever done.
>>64286865
>implying Sway isn't their best
>>64286901
i like their female singers but sway probably is their best.
>>64285454
What did Whirr do?
>>64287582
Made a joke about a tranny if memory serves me correctly
>>64287582
They talked to people on facebook like it was 4chan and pissed off a mediocre trans hardcore band.
>>64286804
Without a doubt. Whirr's recent output is shit. They've too good releases: Distressor, and Around, which is criminally underrated I think.
>>64288711
*two good releases
pic related is the best non-Loveless shoegaze album prove me wrong
I've been through the flow chart and probably the raddest stuff I found on it was Whirr's Distressor and Skywave's Synthstatic, with special mention to Astrobrite and Alcian Blue. Any recs in this vein?
>>64284698
Maybe try Radio Dept

>not Turning Into Small
no body is biting in the thread i posted so i'll try here.
Recs for anything like Beach Slang that doesn't have terrible vocals. Specifically song related

Check out Swirlies. Their stuff should be free on their site.
>>64285510
I think Kevin Shields said in some article that while they were recording "Isn't Anything", they were listening to some Krautrock
>>64286901
that's their worst. For recent Whirr, their split ep with Nothing was better than Sway.
What effects do I need to get the guitar sound? Also interested in bass

thanks guys

Devolving into a passive aggressive bitch isn't motivating anyone to assist you.
I wish that people would get into I Am A Lake Of Burning Orchids' material other than Summer In My Veins. He does (or did) really cool stuff with noise and guitar processing that wasn't even touched on Summer.

The essentials are a good overdrive and chorus. Delay is good if you want a more dense sound.
I use cheap Boss pedals (ST-2 and DD-7) for most of my stuff and can get sounds I like, but if you want the "traditional"/Loveless sound there's more trickery you have to get into. Remember that most of the shoegazey sound comes from what you're playing instead of how it's processed.

bump
Just got around to checking out that album by Alison's Halo. For some reason I thought they were a Slowdive ripoff but it's some great stuff. More dense than Slowdive without being too noisy.
