The problem is that /mu/core has become too broad of a term. I've been called a /mu/core drone from liking everything from Stevie Wonder, Zs, Yo La Tengo, Shiina Ringo, and disco, all very different genre. The over-emphasis of traditional /mu/core is genuinely a problem but butthurt normies/RYM-drones have expanded the term to describe anything they don't like.

Why's The Glow Pt. 2 there? It's not talked about that often here. Hell it never even had like one big meme moment to have its spot there either. let me give you newfags a little history lesson. back in the day before MPP those couple of albums were the epitome of /mu/. the elite few that MOST everyone on /mu/ unanimously agreed were great ablums. that was quite a feat because back then everyone was still a total contrarian asshole.
then MPP came out and it rocked /mu/ to the core. i had never experienced anything like that up to that point on the board. so then in an effort to honor that moment and that album some of us decided it should be added to the /mu/core chart. later that year hospice came out and some tried to slip it into the chart which is how it stayed for a long time. MBDTF was a huge deal on /mu/, probably a bigger one that MPP was so there was an effort again to add another album to the list and i just don't thinkk /mu/core ever recovered after that.
there isn't anymore cohesion, its just what people think is popular on /mu/ at the moment.
I think The Money Store should be replaced with The Powers That Be. just because it was something that defined Death Grips doesn't mean it's their best piece

People ITT demanding that "shit grips" gets removed just because they don't like it seem to miss this. Whether people like it or not, Death Grips and Vaporwave have been as much staples of /mu/ culture in these last few years as any of the older /mu/core albums.
