but I'm interested in where they came from and how rock and metal splits into different strands in America and the U.K. in the 70s/80s

and it all sort of collides in '92 in GnR vs. Nirivana

which is the year Death Metal came into its own (late 80's early nighties to 97)

...and Black Metal is a similar thing, mid 80s 90s

hmmm it's like early Black Sabbath goes out of fashion quite quick which is sort of picked up by maybe Bolt thrower and that sort of thing later on
