This is the first Bass I ever owned, not a good bass but for a 13 year old it worked! Epiphone embassy bass special iv
Now I am 20 and have a 1985 Peavey Patriot. It's a sick jazz bass and I love the tone I can get out of it. I do want a 5 string but what should I get?

I've got a shitty old ibanez that I plink on.
I want a 4001/4003 because I grew up playing classical music and $2k for a top-tier bass still sounds cheap compared to a decent violin/viola/cello/upright bass
As for my style, I'm really into relatively slow, tone-driven, harmony-as-melody stuff like Peter Hook, classic Sting, Morphine, and William Cashion

I'd love to have a nice hollowbody bass, and maybe another short scale. A cool name brand fancypants bass would be nice too (Alembic, F Bass, etc) but they're too expensive.

Got this the other day. Pretty new to bass ~6 moths ish but haven't been playing frequently enough. It's my first real bass and it's awesome to play. The EMG-DC pulls off such a nice tone. Haven't fiddled about with the jazz one enough though.
Recommend me a bass please. I play a lot of prog and some psych and jazz. Right now I only have a 2012 P-Bass, but I want something with more tone control.
