Hey /mu/ Any bassists here?
Recently purhcased myself a 6 string bass and im trying to figure out some tuning questions that i've come across.
If i wanted to put the bass in drop A, would it be G A E A D B, or something else that im unaware of.
Also, general music theory thread.
Standard tuning for 6 strings bass is BEADGC
Just tune AEADGC

I always assumed a 6 string bass would be FBEADG? Guess it makes seance sense to have s higher string

Lowest string is a B0, which is 30Hz
A F string would go around 21 Hz, which is kinda useless

There's not really much music for bass that uses that low of a note. It'd be only a fourth up from the lowest note on a piano, which isn't helpful for a bassist.
Plus that string would be stupid thick.

what if your guitarist is a filthy 8 string user and you want to maintain the octave relationship between your instruments ?

You tell him to go buy a bass already. He pretty much has one on his guitar.
Seriously though, if you really need to keep that octave relationship then by all means go ahead, but most people aren't even going to hear that 20hz, it would be interesting for gigging, since people would feel it, but for recording you might as well fart into a microphone.
