I've never listened to The Smiths or Morrissey, but I just wanna say Morrissey seems like the most pretentious motherfucker, and that album cover doesn't help

i think it was rather badly received & many people thought it was a let-down after his very succesful debut album. i guess it never really recovered from that. personally i have always liked it. mute witness is an especially great song.
