Despite its haphazard tracklisting I feel like HTTT is something of an endgame for the emotions displayed in the few albums prior. Even compared to the fearmongering of OKC and the dystopian rantings of Kid A and Amnesiac, HTTT still manages to sound defeatist as hell, like everything's fucked and there's no point in even trying anymore. The most hopeful the album gets is on Sail To The Moon with the contemplation that MAYBE future generations will unfuck things. For some, it might be too melodramatic. But personally, I dig this shit.

HTTT is my favorite too, though I don't think it's necessarily their best. The contrast between the dark tone and the eerie, beautiful vocals in songs like we suck young blood is fantastic.

Radiohead is effectively a singles band.
Yeah yeah, I know, they're influenced by krautrock and have created some artful albums and blah blah blah, what the fuck ever, but the fact of the matter is I could take the couple good tracks there are on each album and put together one hell of a compilation, but as it is, most of these albums are rather unrewarding. To their credit, such a compilation would have little crossover with a greatest hits comp, because a lot of their best songs were album cuts
