How do you guys tag your music genres?
Are you a rock, pop, metal, jazz, hip-hop person?
Or do you get specific as bubblegum dance and discofox?

>discofox
Discofox is a ballroom dance, not a genre of music

>not a genre of music
well it is now
>>64155357
Never was.
Discofox is a very versatile ballroom dance which goes with everything in 4/4.

Can I call you literal faggot for knowing that?

just so you know OP, this isn't me

No, because ballroom dance isn't really all that gay and an integral part of European upper class culture.

I don't understand the American aversion to high culture, sorry.

I generally try and tag genres to keep an even-ish population with a minimum of about 10 artists for a separate genre unless it's absolutely essential. For example my Post Punk tag recently got way too big so I finally split off a proper New Wave tag as a seperate thing. I know they're not the same thing but most genres can easily merge in a hierarchical fashion. Hence I"ll have like four or five variations of punk or alt rock because I like these things but just a generic 'jazz' tag because I'm a fucking pleb or some shit

This is what I do too
Call me a pleb but I just list all trance, house, dubstep, etc all under Electronica because fuck it.
However, I do make a distinction between Alternative Metal (Deftones, Chevelle, AiC) and Metal (Metallica, Sabbath)
I guess it's just how OCD you wanna get
There are no genres only artists

I don't.
