There are literal hundreds of thousands of them.
If you want kinda standard wall of sound then a conjunction of a heavy fuzz going into a lighter overdrive works well.
Noise rock bands will often just have extremely loud amplifiers with maybe an overdrive pedal or two as well, its volume with leads to feedback and strange noises.
Shoegaze might use 4 or 5 distortions. Fuzz is probably the "dirtiest" sounding distortion, good example of that being the big muff pi.
