Spooky > Split >>> Lovelife

I suspect Gala's gonna be better than Split as well. Honestly, I didn't think much of Split until The Invisible Man kicked in. Might grow on me with more listens. Spooky was great all the way through, though.

I can see that. Spooky never got all that loud. It really just seemed like a more energetic take on early Cocteau Twins or something. I could see it playing nice with Head Over Heels, perhaps even Garlands.

Split sucked desu. Least favorite out of the essential five (Loveless, Souvlaki, Nowhere, Chapterhouse, Split)
>>
>>64119021
didn't know there was a box set. hopefully there's worthwhile unreleased material there too
>>
>>64119005

I'd say they're the albums that are firmly rooted in that sound. Garlands is pretty damn close to the likes of The Cure's Pornography whereas Head Over Heels is kind of inbetween that bleak goth sound and what they'd eventually become on Treasure.
>>
>>64119046

It's just their 3 albums and 2 compilations, nothing that didn't already exist. I think it's more a thing for people like me who had never checked out Lush before now that they're back together again.
>>
>>64119134
damn
piracy has always been working for me but I guess it's a cool collectors item for gaze enthusiasts.
>>
>>64119094

>>
>>64119478
>I love Pornography

>>
Why is Split always the most recommended? Spooky and Gala are much much much better.
>>
>>64119478

You should. Garlands can be hit or miss since it's admittedly a one-trick pony but it's good if you like that one trick. Head Over Heels isn't a favorite of mine as I feel it's a "growing pains" album personally but I won't deny that it displays growth and diversity compared to Garlands. Sugar Hiccup in particular foreshadows the band's future style quite well.
>>
>>64119560
They seem like a band i'd wanna notice how they grow and change with each release.

Decay is probably my fav track off Nowhere. Also the title track but that's a bonus track.

Not true. Split and Spooky are both good full albums.

>>
>>64119040

Split doesn't suck.

How is Chapterhouse an "essential five?" Also, that's not even a thing.

There's a very well-established Big Four of shoegaze: MBV, Ride, Slowdive, Lush.

They all were active in similar periods, broke up or ended similarly, and have reunited roughly around the same time and toured. British. They stand out for this.

Chapterhouse is essential shoegaze but they aren't a big four band or anything. A 5th "big" band could be argued over endlessly with so many options

They're probably the 5th biggest outside of the main 4, but Chapterhouse in the past and recently never got anywhere near the amount of press the other 4 did (or numerous festival appearances recently)
>>
>>64119134

No, it's not a thing for "new people like you cuz they're back together."

They're vinyl albums that haven;t been pressed in over 20 years and are not widely available. Do you understand how vinyl pressings work? Do you understand record collection culture?
>>
>>64123295
Their drummers were well hung.
