Almost all post-rock excluding Spiderland is pretentious and boring. Spiderland is good though. Also, there's lots of music that some people on /mu/ like, some nu metal is pretty well liked around here, like early Korn, Deftones, and System of a Down.

How so? A piano ballad doesn't really strike me as pretentious, considering most of their albums close with a ballad/slow type song (long slow goodbye, mosquito song, running joke).
