I thought most of the noodling totally fit in a very loose sense. I mean to say that all the outside notes definitely adhere to a kind of jazz fusion aesthetic. To me the main theme just sounded weak in comparison to all the noodling asides and that was the flaw. If he had played the melody an octave down and really boosted the fuzz, manipulated the wah more deliberately to emphasize certain harmonics, played with grace, a sense for the grandeur the song needs, then it would have been an interesting rendition for electric bass. The problem with Flea is that he's always in the bass' upper register cuz he's a fag.
