Are vinyls making a comeback? Or is it just another hipsterfag meme?

Just another hipsterfag meme.
They are such cucks.
>>
aren't you like, a bit (few years) late
>>
>>64031544
CDs are cheaper to buy and most people have CD players or a computer.

Why would I buy something that needs a table and good headphones and I can't rip and copy it losslessly, unlike a CD?

Now, I'm not saying that vinyl collectors are bad, but I just don't see the point in vinyl for me.
>>
You're like 5 years late
>>
>Are vinyls making a comeback?
They have been for a few years...
>is it just another hipsterfag meme?
ah so it's bait. Explains why you seemed to be so late in the first sentence.
>>
Vinyls?
>>
>>64031830
not OP, but in my country we call records "vinyls", so maybe that's why
>>
>>64031544
I've always been a fan of collecting physical media. Can be pretty cool.

It's not cool when your a self-important piece of shit (like most of /mu/ is) and you use it as a way to gorge your ever-growing ego and false sense of superiority.
>>
If you say vinyls instead of vinyl you're a cuck
>>
>>64031712
Oh shit the whole time I thought I was asking a valid question anon.
>>
>>64031972
Slow down there senpai.
>>
>>64031544
>just another hipsterfag meme?
Why would this mean vinyl isn't coming back? I mean, if all the hipsters are buying enough vinyl that it becomes commercially viable for artists and record companies to release albums in vinyl, is that not the same thing as it making a comeback?
>>
Vinyl never died in the first place. It was doing alright until the big labels came back to the format that they tried to kill off
>>
>>64032250

>calls them vinyl
>doesn't call them records
>calls other people cucks

I'm not into collecting, just the sound they make is better IMO. but the best thing about albums is they force you to really sit and listen. with CD's, you can switch songs off that you don't like. With Vinyl comes the attitude that you are experiencing music not just listening.
>>
maybe in 2012
vinyl's kinda out right now
>>
>>64031544
those things are mutually exclusive
>>
>>64033364
shit I meant aren't
>>
>>64031544
Don't think it really went out of fashion. Retards find something shiny (like CDs) and say... ooh look shiny... let's buy it.

The vinyl section in my local HMV never went away it got smaller and now it covers two fucking big walls. Looks fucking great too.
>>
>>64032250
Go back to your cage you 'tard.
>>
If you to a show and they're selling music what's more likely to be seen, a cd or a vinyl?
>>
>>64031544
It came back in the 2000s and it's here to stay. The 2000s was when they went from being simply outdated tech to being a cool vintage collectible alternative. That's how it goes.

No you were right the first time
>>
shit never made a comeback, you'll find some articles on Google that cover this... tldr just a commercial move from majors to sell overpriced "collector" reissues of the RHCP and whatnot. all the while you got the labels from niche scene who never stopped releasing their stuff on PVC. I like buying records but probably wouldn't if I didn't DJ.
>>
>>64031544

What comeback? They were always around.
>>
>>64034706
>probably wouldn't if I didn't DJ
Stopped reading right there
>>
>>64034636
lol where did you find that graph?

here's a link to said article I mentioned. With an actual proper graph from the RIAA. http://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2015/01/20/vinyl-comeback-really-looks-like/
>>
>>64034757
good thing i mentioned it at the very end of my post then lol

or was it the joke?
>>
>>64034568
CD, I've rarely seen vinyl being sold

But yeah, the popularity is because people are realising digital has absolutely no value and too many restrictions. And CDs become worthless as soon as you buy them
>>
>>64034636
Okay but can we see that rise relative to CD sales/iTunes sales/streaming? I have a feeling the "vinyl comeback" is nothing more than a slight bump in comparison to other mediums
>>
>>64034764
>>64034636
actually those graph are compatible. It's just that the first one is obv cropped to make him say something that isn't true...

How is that relevant?
>>64034951
>Well at least I know how to read a graph
Did you read the part where sales have quadrupled in the last few years?
>>
>>64034976
>How is that relevant?
sigh. have you clicked the link I posted above? if you did, you would have seen that the 2 graph in this thread is just a tiny cropped part of a bigger one, in which you can see that the "revival" is just a microcospical bump compared to the sales of the 70/80s. better than nothing though...
>>
>>64035064
>a microcospical bump compared to the sales of the 70/80s
Not relevant.
>have you clicked the link I posted above
To which site? It wouldn't be
>www.digitalmusicnews.com
Would it? That's essentially Damage Control: The Blog in regards to being in charge of analog media sales.

good God don't you know how to fucking read. first those graphs match perfectly, but on the top of it the site you just dissed IS the source of one you posted.
I don't know how to put it more clearly.

Oh wow I found another graph. Just amazing!
>>
>>64035130

yeah a scale to judge whether or not there is a significant bump in sales is totally not relevant right?
>>

here here, a prize for having the last word on a thread on 4chan. congrats!
>>
>>64031544
Better value for money than cds.

Plus you have to sit down to listen to the whole thing.

Plus large artwork.
>>
>>64035433
>yeah a scale to judge whether or not there is a significant bump in sales
You mean from 50 million to 218 million? That's a significant bump.

Thanks.
