How to Shoegaze 1.5.jpg
1 MB, 5856x2720
What do you think the creators of the chart fucked up on?
>>
>>64027600
I liked the gothic shoegaze part that was on the old one.
>>
>>64027600
Should we include Sunbather?
>>
>>64028084
Me too
>>64028130
Yeah, Sunbather should be in the Blackgaze section
>>
Does Lush still count as shoegaze? The new EP is really good.

yes

well, there's Roads to Judah over there

right, forgot

I think the Discord chat is what re-killed /shugazi/ for a while, but alright

Should add a note telling people to avoid Loveless till they're familiar with Souvlaki and Nowhere. Loveless ends up killing the enjoyment from most other shugazi albums.
>>
>>64030310
Well Loveless is a good start for people into noisier stuff and rock
Slowdive and Ride should be for people that aren't into that stuff
>>
What's the best /shugazi/ band to see live?
I missed Ringo Deathstarr yesterday, and I heard they were good live

are trap producers sampling shoegaze yet?
>>
Hey shoegaziers
Question: I'm infatuated with the textures and patterns Steve Reich and Philip Glass come up with in their compositions. There seems to be a huge overlap potential between shoegaze and so-called (poorly named imho) minimalism. Do
you know of any who do this well? Thx!

>>64027600
I see no Radio Dept under Dream Pop, or anywhere on the chart!
>>
>>64027600
where is I Break Horses - Hearts?

>Loveless ends up killing the enjoyment from most other shugazi albums.
[citation needed]. I mean really. Loveless is what got me into shoegazing in the first place, and I'm sure some people here can say the same thing.
>>
>>64031989
It's more like a save the best for last type of thing.
>>
Hey is shoegaze the best style to do heroin to?
>>
>>64032355
You can do heroin to any type of music anon.
>>
>>64032355
Nah, you want Grunge
>>
>>64032403
But what's the BEST?

>>64032409
Not really into grunge.

Can I get any scary dream pop recs?
In return here's this awesome album, Natural Born Losers by Nicole Dollanganger
>>
>>64032449
she makes dream pop?
i just know one song my gf showed me
>>
>>64032466
Yeah totally, very lush and lo-fi. Definitely check it out if you're a fan of dream pop
>>
>>64032430
shoegaze is a good alternative if you're not into grunge
>>
>>64032430
Shoegaze or Noise is good.
>>
>>64026624
Why is most Shoegaze so bad?
Most of it just sounds like Post-Rock with vocals, the only band that doesn't sound like shit to this day is MBV.

I don't understand why people consider slowdive shoegaze whatsoever. It's just dream pop to me. There's no hazy soundwalls whatsoever in that.
>>
>>64031734
No, but I didn't realize how bad I want that until now
>>
>>64032628
How the fuck does it sound like post-rock with vocals, what shoegaze u been listening to m8?

Also, When The Sun Hits, Souvlaki Space Station, Alison, those songs are hazy as fuck. You'll probably like Just For A Day, Slowdive EP and their other singles/EP's more though.

>>64032449
Cranes maybe?
>>
what exactly causes that 'vacuum' sound in MBV anyway?
>>
>>64032628
because so many people try to copy that generic sound rather than experimenting

thats "most" shoegaze though and not all
>>
I've already listened to Jesu, TAP, Boris, Nadja, True Widow

What do I do now lads
>>
Bands Shugazi never talks about:
Soundpool
Pia Fraus
Maria False
Airiel
Blind Mr. Jones
Amusement Parks on Fire
Film School
>>
If you could kill yourself to one album what would it be?
>>
>>64033611
my album ;)
>>
>>64033905
That would make me want to kill myself too.
>>
>>64033421
Reverse-reverb/delay, and a shit tonne of feedback in the mix.
>>
Thoughts on the new Nothing record?
>>
>>64028084
The creators have said they plan on adding it back, they just have to work it out
>>
>>64033602
I actually really like amusement parks on fire. Venosa is one of my favorite songs period.
>>
>>64034325
Fine, I guess. I really liked Guilty of Everything and never really get tired of it even though I listen to it a lot. Tired of Tomorrow didn't really catch me on first listen
>>
i like bardo pond

holy shit im so late to the party but i'm listening to The Radio Dept. finally and i love it so far. I'm only on This Time Around but i love this album so far
>>

>>
>>64033602
Airiel pops in every now and then
So does Soundpool
>>64033541

>>
>>64027600
not adding LSD and the Search for God
>>
>>64033611
Ooh, that's a tough one. I'd have to narrow it down to three
>Airs - Adore
>Low - I Could Live in Hope
>Nevermind Me - s/t
>>
Just listened to this. What are other good albums from Low?
>>
>>64037155
Where would they fall under?
>>
>>64039828
I'd say dreamy shoegaze
>>
>>64039890
Yeah, true

We need bastian and shugazi_pleb in here, damnit

Do you guys ever get tired of shoegaze? It all sounds pretty much the same.
Don't get me wrong, I like shoegaze, but I've stopped downloading it because I've not heard anything new in a good while.
>>
>>64040452
I listen to a lot of metal, punk, noise and goth, so I don't get tired of it.
>>
>>64040261
Can you paste the album name and artist? I can't read japanese, but if you type it out I'll search What for it.
>>
>>64040669
Album: goji-sanpun
Artist: 夢見るP (yumemiru)

Thanks in advance
>>
>>64041027
Artist search only brings up some compilation, not even sure if it's the same artist (didn't look to heavily), all other entries with similar names yielded no results. Torrent search for the album name also had no results. I looked through the Japanese Shoegaze collage for a bit and couldn't find it there either.

Don't think it's on What man, sorry. Good luck finding it, the cover makes this look like a really interesting release.
>>
>>64041027

Also, seems like it's out of stock on that page. That grey box above the click box apparently says "Do Not Order", according to Google.
I clicked the button on the page that looked like a buy button (not the weird disclaimer page), and this popped up:
再販希望
再販投票を受け付けました。
ご投票いただき、ありがとうございました。

なおご希望に添えない場合がございますことを
ご了承くださいますようお願い申し上げます。

Which translates to, according to Google:
Resale hope
We have received a resale vote.
We cast your vote, thank you.

A It should be noted that it may not attach to hope
So thank you for your understanding.

I tried searching it too, my only hope was someone who posted the album in a facebook group, after asking him if he could upload it he blocked me (lol).
Wonderfully the artist uploaded 3 songs of 6 on Youtube, so i'm not missing everything.

I listen to other genres too but I've been listening to shoegaze a lot more when I'm doing something else like studying. It's a perfect atmosphere.

Are there any others that do these lengthy shoegaze tracks? Preferably in the vein of Reich, Glass, and Adams like >>64031752 asks?
>>
>>64031734
Artists/producers along the lines of Purity Ring seem to be incrementally approaching the utilization of shoegaze/noise pop/dream pop instrumentation and vocalization; it's pretty evident, especially once you manage to deconstruct the ethereal synths, and begin to identify the acute and small vocals.

I mean, the fact that such action is necessary within the provided sonic atmosphere should indicate, at the very least, an inclination towards the formulation/development of a nascent trapgaze.

Depressingly unknown. I like it. Ended up buying the LP since it was so cheap, plus the free lossless download on Bandcamp.

I'd give it 7-8/10 or so. It's one of those "I like it a lot but not so much that I listen to it all the time." I like the dreamy blend with shoegaze that they managed to pull off.
>>
>>64032628
I'm convinced you haven't listened to Slowdive if you really believe that
