It takes a while to realize that they're amazing and not totally clusterfucked music for schizophrenics

I work for pitchfork AMA
It was the singing that really turned me off, but once I got used to it and listened closely with my favorite pair of headphones, I really loved it.

I was coming off the rush of having listened to OK Computer for, like, three years in a row when I first listened to this back in 2003 or so. Hated it. I felt betrayed. "Where are the SONGS" etc. Took me about three years of completely forgetting about it, starting widening my musical horizon and listening and falling in love with a bunch of experimental/non-intuitive stuff and finding the album again to realise it should have been a favourite since day 1.

alright let´s listen to it again, we know how messed up it is....
>listens to it with headphones this time
hey, this is pretty okay, I enjoyed some parts and Sometimes felt pretty comfy during the ride
not my favorite.....but from one of the worst, to somewhat special pleasure that I would listen again
the moral: don´t listen to it without headphones
