When will modern Hip-Hop surpass this? It feels like every rap album since 2010 has just been a footnote to this.
Not how footnotes work, ya dingus
>>64025215
When this is released.
>>64025215
gkmc is arguably better
>>64026479
>arguably
objectively
>>64026479
>>64026681
TPAB is better than both, no matter what insecure /pol/ browsers on here will say
>>64026714
this. even gkmc was better than mbdtf
>>64026714
that album is a snooze fest desu, and I hate the production, it is a chore to listen to and has no replay back value.
>>64025232
Pretty much this.
Thread closed.
>>64026728
it is good but no.
>>64026824
100% agree
Not enough memorable moments on TPAB
When will modern Hip-Hop surpass this? It feels like every rap album since 2015 has just been a footnote to this.
If hip hop can't surpass a bloated pop album from 6 years ago it truly is a shitty genre.
>>64026479
>>64026681
>>64026714
>>64026728
Kendrick is good but TPAB is over rated as fuck and GKMC is not as good as MBDTF.
>>64025215
MBDTF is a pop album...
>>64027427
No, it's children music.
>>64027427
It's hip hop/pop but it's still better than any other hip hop album this century, prove me wrong faggots.
>>64027468
made a better album only 3 years later
>>64027601
Yeezus is pretty good but Guilt Trip/Send It Up just bore me.
Other than that, solid album
>>64025215
Tell me 5 original things that this overrated “masterpiece” album did.
I’ll be waiting.
>>64029223
1.Minimalist-minimal production
2.Introspective lyrics projected from an outside perspective
3.Grandiose feature vocals not seen in hiphop to this day
4.In-genius concept told many times but from a twisted self-righteous view
5.Incredible blending of archetypes
>>64029364
How far up your ass can you fit your hand to be pulling out this shit?
>>64029389
not a single refute because I'm right
>>64027335
Go to bed Johnathan
That album is shite
I'm glad people are finally starting to realize how overrated MBDTF was. 5 years old and it's already irrelevant. In 5 more years Kanye will be the footnote.
>>64029364
MBDTF is maximalist. But other than that you're pretty right. I'd argue that TLOP is a better fit to your 5 points.
>>64029490

Just because I didn't waste time debating you doesn't instantly make you right.
I'll bite:
1. What is this even supposed to mean? If you're defining minimalism as few instruments/slow moving, Yeezus is way more minimal than this. Save for the piano thing at the very start of Runaway, that's the most minimal thing on the album and is an outlier. You also can't have minimalism and your 3., the two concepts are mutually exclusive. Minimalism is inherently non-grandiose, and vice-versa.
2. "MAN THIS SHIT IS, FUCKIN RIDICULOUS." Worst offender there, but not an outlier. "I ain't need yo pussy, bitch, I'm on my own dick" ring a bell? it's all self-centered and braggadocious, not much if anything that's truly introspective and thoughtful.
3. See 1. This is maybe the only reasonable point, for sure the most reasonable. Cool, Kanye hired a choir.
4. I really think you just put words here, I doubt anyone could look at that and pull a real idea from it. If you're saying that it's a genius concept, then I'd have to say that you're dead wrong, it's nothing more than what I outlined in 2. Any concept was unintentional or was a product of his mental state, there was no intentional "Grand Concept" of which you speak. Self Righteous is right, though.
5. What blending? Each track is relatively isolated. This also doesn't make sense.
>inb4 he doesn't respond

"I don't actually listen to rap"
Love the "footnote" there at the end hahaha

>not exclusive Kanye demonstrated a beautiful contrast of the two styles perfectly
2. "MAN THIS SHIT IS, FUCKIN RIDICULOUS." Worst offender there, but not an outlier. "I ain't need yo pussy, bitch, I'm on my own dick" ring a bell? it's all self-centered and braggadocious, not much if anything that's truly introspective and thoughtful.
>hurr my cherry picks
won't even refute this
3. See 1. This is maybe the only reasonable point, for sure the most reasonable. Cool, Kanye hired a choir.
And yet you didn't list another hiphop album with such a leveny of features. hmmmmmm
4. I really think you just put words here, I doubt anyone could look at that and pull a real idea from it. If you're saying that it's a genius concept, then I'd have to say that you're dead wrong, it's nothing more than what I outlined in 2. the concept is easy to understand enough i shouldn't have to explain it. Unintentional? No such thing as an unintentional concept retard.
5. What blending? Each track is relatively isolated. This also doesn't make sense.
This is just objectively wrong.
Good day my man.
>>64029766
well damn
>>64029524
>bitches about me not refuting his points
>his refutation is all insults and no substance
Is every Ye apologist just a fuckin moron?
Like seriously, how does the number of features even matter? Half of them are either shit artists that did almost nothing (Nicki, Cudi) or decent artists with infamoustly shit performances (Jay-Z). And besides, having a lot of features doesn't mean a good result. You're going to complain about cherry picking and yet you won't provide anything to the contrary? You're going to tell me that it's impossible for Ye to have accidentally, while writing his self-worship "masterpiece", integrated enough words about how fucked up his fabulous life is to make a downy like you think that he made some glorious concept album?
Please.
>>64029858
Your argument is Kanye went into the studio free-styled and came out with MBDTF basically. You're giving him more credit than I am lol.
>>64029673
You're a white male.
>>64029502
agreed. I see TLOP more as a loose continuation of the character form MBDTF though
>>64029909
No, I'm saying that kanye just wrote words without intending the grand concept everyone slaps on the album. Totally different.
How can you actively listen to modern hip-hop and believe this?
>>64030043
Ahh because you were with him when he was writing the lyrics and saw the lightbulb go off in his head
You're Mike Dean now right?
>>64029364
how are 4 and 5 any different? Its a concept album, ok...that's how concept albums work...
it was probably the first mainstream rap concept album but even that, I am not sure of but I don't feel like looking into it.
I know Del had one before too and I'm sure many others as well
Dr. Dre did the feature thing first also
This album did nothing original...it was just incredibly well put together and that's why it is so acclaimed. You don't need to make up shit just to make it seem like you have to be on another level intellectually to appreciate it.
However, Yeezus is a different story...that one merits discussion on a deeper level
>>64030336
>I listened to it but didn't understand the concept. Now listen to my opinion
no, you're just as bad the dude above you
>>64030045
List five hiphop albums better than MBDTF and why
I'll wait
>>64029364
I am LMAOing @ your 5 reasons.
Face it, Pitchfork got bribed to give MBDTF a 10.
It’s a 7/10 album at most.
TPAB beats MBDTF in every field, even though TPTB is better and more experimental than both
>>64030830
>death meme
>kendrick lamediocrejazz instrumentals
And you think yourself qualified to discuss high quality hiphop?

Young thug and rhq did in a mixtape with fucking birdman something better than kanyes whole career, who relies on over 5 people on each song he makes.
Have you heard any of the albums i mentioned?

it matters because he gets all the credit.
GO TO ANY site and people praise Kanye like he did all the work, they say he's the best producer when they don't even know he doesn't even produce most of his shit
I love MBDTF but this album is better imo
