Because covers can really affect how interested people are in an album. Covers should give the listener an idea I'd what they are about to listen to. This is why people don't like The Glowing Man's cover: it looks pretty similar to the color scheme and look of TBK, which kind of suggests that it'll be quite similar to TBK in sound

It's just such a shame because The Seer and To Be Kind had such beautifully succinct album art. Especially TBK, they perfectly nail the sound and theme of their respective albums.
This is some poorly drawn cut off arm digitally inserted on-top of a scan of cardboard, for an album that is apparently centered around love, I don't see a connection.
For how big the theme of clouds and transcending seems to be, and Gira describing the band drifting away on a rust colored cloud on "People Like Us" it seemed like the perfect excuse for good album art. Maybe that's too cheesy and self referential for Gira, but it would perfectly fit the progression the band has been going through with the last 3 albums.
