both of these albums are awesome

I have never heard of this album/project but it seems really interesting...thank you for posting it. Any other recs? I have been on a Steve Reich kick lately myself.
>>
i do warm drone.
curiously enough, sunbather was the album who guided me onto the path of appreciating warm tones and further, ambient music.

https://inconsistency.bandcamp.com/ is my bandcamp.

my favorites include pausal : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYM7SD22dCQ
i aspire to make warm drone as good as this to be honest.

Thursday Afternoon - Brian Eno might be my all time favorite ambient piece.
>>
>>63868539
That's one of my all time favorites as well...I have some very nostalgic memories that involve Thursday Afternoon, no doubt. I listened to Discreet Music for the first time in quite awhile this evening and I had forgotten how amazing it is.
>>
>>63868297
I have only made it through the first short track but I am quite interested in hearing the rest...I have never heard of someone describing that style as "warm drone" and that's pretty unique in a descriptive sense. What do you feel differentiates it from other styles? Total interest no condescending nature implied or anything!

I don't like the super processed feeling ambient albums. I don't know if that really makes since. I like something that feels more natural?
>>
>>63868297
idk much about ambient (like what ive heard) but whats the difference between warm drone and ambient? is it just a category of ambient? if so what are its characteristics? just curious
>>
Yeah

I arrange a collage of field recordings, tape loops, and various found sounds and layer them with droney synth loops and noise texture. It's a really cluttered sound at times, so sometimes I'll improvise some simple ambient melody with an ebowed lap steel for some clairvoyance in the whole mess.
>>
>>63868868
I listened to "24 maj" via YouTube and I really enjoyed it. I can really understand what you mean about the natural vibe. I definitely seek out more organic sounds if things start to feel too sterile and polished for sure.

Yeah man, do you have any suggestions for albums that have a "natural" vibe? Less synthetic feeling
>>
>>63869369
I can certainly respect every aspect of this album. I like it and it's one of my favorites. But it feels heartless and empty. I understand the innovation and story behind it. Audibly speaking it doesn't connect.
>>
>>63869669

I'm not so sure. In his experimentation Klaus Schulze created a supremely haunting and dark work. Satz Ebene's delayed organ chords elevate and elevate like it's hell on earth. It's crazy how loud it gets given the humble beginnings of the album. Satz Exils Maria is contemplative and how I imagine the heat death of the universe would sound (if it would have a sound.)

>>63869600
This is some more recently released ambient music that I feel really exemplifies a medium between the digital soundscapes with creatively subtle chord mutation and earthy samples with a very natural/hypertonal kinda feeling.

Does anyone like Delia Derbyshire?

So many people on this board seem to respect and love hellish soundscapes, depressive lyrics, "death of the universe" sounding music. I just can't get behind it. I like to listen to it on occasion, and it certainly is provocative and gets emotion from me. But it's always so draining. I can't listen to it often.

I hear that. Most of this board prefers depressing music, myself included. It's funny a friend of mine and I were trading music back and forth, and I realized I didn't have much "happy" music to share with her.

Try pic related, it's fantastic.

I feel that, I guess. Lots of teen angst on this board, so it would make sense that the music posted here is often fairly linear and one-dimensionally pessimistic.
>>
>>63869995
I could be wrong but it just seems that there's so much praise for post-punk, industrial, noise, free improvisation (which tends to be destructive) stuff like that. And I get it, it's supposed to be a decomposition of the tedious norms. A breakdown and rebuild, like some Frankenstein's monster, that's supposed to be poetic. It's cool and definitely interesting concepts played out in audio form. Part of the reason I love music. But often times I don't want to listen to decomposition. It's like, schindler's list is a great movie, but I'd only watch it like once a year.

Thanks for the reminder. I've been meaning to check this album out. Seems up my alley for sure.

I get what you're saying and I agree. I've seen my taste mature in the same respect as I've gotten older. The gloom and doom emotional character from which a lot of the /mu/core finds catharsis is a lot more emotionally taxing for me nowadays. I'm a lot more sensitive to sensation as it pertains to sound now, and I can't do that stuff all the time.
