Status Audio HD Two headphones. $70. Better than Beats IMO, but what isn't these days ;^]
>>
I got me a pair of Massdrop's AKG K7xx and DAMN! They are good. I got them paired up with a JDS Labs element DAC/amp and they're eargasmic.
>>
More of an amp question the fiio e10 any good? gonna be using mostly on a desktop and it seemed like a solid choice
>>
>>63865348
Yeah, it's pretty much the amp to go for unless you have like 600ohm headphones then you might be looking at more expensive shit. Only thing is the LED is quite bright, but that's just me.

I have the M50x as well (the meme headphones) and I like them, but I find the earpads to hurt SOOO much after only about a half hour of listening. I'm thinking of buying some new ones. Do you you just use the stock ones?

What are some good headphones/earphones for when you just want to go for a walk? all the headphones posted ITT are way too big to go outside with them imo
>>
>>63865744
Yeah I do. The pads on mine (>>63865637
) feel considerably softer compared to OG M50s, but I don't know how it stacks to first wave M50x's.

I can leave them on for < 3 - 4 hours before it starts feeling like my head's in a vice. Still a big improvement.

Shure srh1540s. I use a pair of se530s when I'm mobile. I can't recommend them highly enough, Shure makes the best headphones I've ever had the pleasure of listening through.
>>63865348
I use it with pic related, and have been very happy with it. I agree with >>63865544 about the LED, it's bright enough that I can't read number on the volume knob by screen-light in a dark room. But that's a pretty tame criticism, and the only one I've got.

After 36 years I still think these are among the best headphones you can get.

People say it has rolled off highs and lows, but measurements don't show that at all. I don't hear it. I think that's just rumor. Anyways, if it is true, it has an extremely fast CSD compared to modern lambdas, so maybe people are just missing on the feeling of decay.

I think these are my favorite of all the lambda series which are my favorite stax series. Still need to hear the original SR-Omega, but this is going to be hard to beat.
>>
Would I be an idiot if I just buy Bose?
>>
>>63866310
Frankly most headphones that are hyped are no worse. I think they're overpriced and not amazing at all, but so are half of what are on the charts.
>>
>>63864795
Do it OP. I own a pair of shp9500 and for their price they are amazing. Better than the memeheiser hd600's for 1/5 the price.

The HD600/HD650 are good for a dynamic cone headphone. I don't get the hate.
>inb4 veilheiser
just eq it and it goes away, its literally just a dip in the upper mids. The rest of the response is fairly flat.

>>63866529
The shp9500 is a bargain. I liked it more than the x2.
>>
>>63865744
Why you gotta be such a bitch nigga

I've used ATH-M50x for a couple years and they've never been uncomfortable unless they're adjusted wrong. Have had them on for 5 hours with no breaks and there was minimal to no discomfort.

These. I've tried a bunch of the ones in the 10-30 price range and these are the best for comfort and sound quality. Plus they're so cheap and surprisingly durable
>>
>>63866740
Were they the originals? Mine is the 1979 model. The only ones of this line that compete with it are the SR-404LE (more fun and boomy, but less "good") and the Nova Signature (more flat and extended sounding, but slower).

Plus this is the cheapest one because noone wants to buy a 36 year old headphone.

And I should say by slower, I mean that its physically slower. Slower decay and slower impulse response. Not slower in PRAT.

I hate talking in audiophile terms but sometimes I do because of my years in head fi.

I've got OG M50's with the original ear pads and can easily wear them for 8hrs on a plane ride, and I've got fucking dumbo ears.

Starting to crack after 2.5 years, I wouldn't mind replacing them with the same pads again, but I know there are better options about.

What is the appeal? They measure really badly. Very high distortion and have a very dark tonal balance. Its fairly linear, but linear at a downwards angle.

I used to have Westone ES5 (I think that was the one) they cost about 1000 dollars and were custom IEM. I am an amateur listener I just wanted something nice and got a portable preamplifier so I wouldn't TOTALLY waste them.

Sadly, I lost them years ago.

My birthday is coming up soon and I was thinking of asking my family for a new pair. I use a cheap 25 dollar pair. Would it be worth it to get a cheap (150) pair of Custom IEM's again like Utimate Ears where I can buy them on amazon and get them fitted by audiologist. I have gained some weight since I had the last impressions taken. Should I have them done again. I don't want to spend a ton but I want high quality in ear headphones to drive my iPhone (yes I know its not the best sound quality), and maybe custom would help me fully hear the dance music I play.

I just got a free trail of Tidal HIFI (streaming lossless audio) and I like it so far.

Thoughts, /mu/?
Help?
Looking for something I can get on amazon 100-200 dollars. Has to be in ear. Preferably custom fit.

Etymonic er-4s/p/pt are pretty good imo.

Feel cheap, but if you take care of them you'll do fine. A little bit overpriced for your range, but they're good.

I liked the klipsch s4. Its a bit bass slanted but mostly neutral.
>>
Anyone running AIAIAI's? Looking at the TMA-2's at the moment.

My experience with the K240s. AGK makes comfy headphones.
