What is the general consensus on this album?
8/10 for me
I thought it was good, but pitchfork said I wasn't allowed to like it, so now I can't. Sorry.

Better than their debut, which was garbage. Pretty good, I like the use of strings a lot, Owen Pallet's presence is pretty strong. I'd give it a 7/10

This accurately sums up my feelings too

8/10 for me as well but the pitchfork review (by laura snapes) was absolutely garbarge.

the nodata link got taken down D:
it's alright but miles kane is a fucking hack and turner is so up himself that he veers into self parody most of the time. not much point listening to this when you could just check out the stuff it's shamelessly ripping off instead. owen pallet almost saves it though
6/10 really bad compared to the previous record (which was amazing) but without that comparison it's decent. No song even comes close to the perfection of "Meeting Place" tho. Pitchfork is right that the lyrics are super douchy at times

>likes the strings
>debut was garbage
the strings are way toned down on the new album, they're lacking a lot desu, Owen's arrangements are much better on the debut
sexy sexy with their sexy girlfriends
Didn't understand the hype for this band until I realized the faggot from Arctic Monkeys is in it. Overrated "indie" shit.
I like it but it isn't as good as their first record, still a solid 7/10 though
