geometric and phantom are songs i can't get into. geometric sounds boring and the incredibly cheesy solo ruins the latter song. it's way better than their previous 2 albums tho. s/t still my fav of all time

I'm enjoying it mostly, but i can't help but feel like this is trodden ground. Not sure they have too many new ideas / talents to play around with. Which is disappointing because I thought that may not be the case after Koi, which had quite the promising closer imvho.
Nope this is another safe Deftones album. They'll never make another White Pony or Saturday Night Wrist.

Not really, lol. It's going to be an okay-good album, but from what I've heard so far it's definitely not going to be their best work, wtf.
Whilst White Pony is the most popular generally I feel like Deftones get quite different vibes and styles going every album so they'll never be a consensus where pretty much everyone says THIS IS THE ALBUM. SNW is great for some who like the more mellow dreamy atmospheric sounds whereas other love Around The Fur because it's so heavy and hard hitting. All my friends are Deftones fans and all have different favorites. Feeling this album is an 8/10 after about 10 listens though. Great finishing track
Gore is meh incarnate. A couple songs the caught my ear in some way, rest are totally forgettable for Deftones standards.
