I think Oceanic might be like the pinnacle of post-metal for me
I'm finishing up giving Panopticon another listen. Excellent as always but it just doesn't hit me as hard

Patrician taste. Also my favorite. Panopticon is good, but Oceanic is definitive isis. the Red sea and Celestial are also great.
imo Isis started to go shit after panopticon. too much clean singing and synths, not enough raw power. Oceanic is probably the perfect blend of heavy and light, although my personal favorite isis song of all time is still backlit, from panopticon.

I wouldn't call any of their material shit but yeah, their discography certainly got lighter with each release and the later stuff did seem to lose a crucial part of the mix
As for their early material, I prefer Mosquito Control to Red Sea
