One of the year's best. Any attempts at presenting a vision of ambient music that goes beyond genre cliches automatically get a thumbs up from me, especially when they're as wellmade as this.
Between this, Vampyric Screams and LSE (which admittedly felt more like a format test run than a major addition to the label catalog), I'm seriously hoping these thematically and conceptually tied album-length box-sets become a yearly thing for HosProd.

For those of you who make noise music, what equipment do you use and what is your process like? I'm thinking of buying a korg minilogue and running it through fl studio for effects and mixing. I want to juxtapose serene soundscapes with harsh noise. Would that setup allow for that?

Most of the time I don't really mind that Hospital keeps its promo/news channels as uncluttered as it does.
At this point, where so many labels even in a field that's as relatively private as noise and general post-industrial electronic music go out of their way to maintain everything from official sites and newsletters to Facebook and Soundcloud pages to fucking Instagram and Tumblr profiles, the approach maintained by Hospital feels both more respectable and more exciting.
At least some of the bigger HP/Fernow stuff tends to get more media attention. Seeing a FACT news item on Skin Crime of all bands was really weird.

I remember reading somewhere that Fernow was actually totally straight-edge for quite some time.
All the drug-related themes in his work seem to stem more from a personal fascination than anything else(though I think Cocaine Death was some form of commentary or statement on a personal relationship of his with someone breaking down in large part because of how severe of an effect involvement in the drug world had on that other person).
Aw shit, another release that snuck up on me out of nowhere. Split 12" of Theologian and Ancient Methods. The noise/techno connection is still going strong!

Yeah, he's always really eloquent and thoughtful in interviews.
I can't imagine someone with as intense of a work ethic/schedule as him being able to manage getting involved with something as chaotic and life-complicating as regular hard drug use anyway, even if he wanted to.
