Progressive depends. Sometimes it's horseshit sometimes it's really creative and worthwhile.

The truth I've found for Prog is that a lot of it is self-indulgent wankery, but the best stuff almost makes up for the bad stuff.
One key i've used is any band who isn't an early prog band who identifies as prog is probably shit. The best ones are ones tend to be the ones who are only labeled prog because they don't fit anything else and they barely fit prog.
