Is XTC one of the most underrated rock bands ever?
excuse me for not talking about the music, but I like the album cover. Looks like Dire Straits.
certainly one of the most overrated
I fucking love XTC, Skylarking is a masterpiece IMO and almost a 10/10.
XTC is underrated as fuck
The Dukes of Stratosphear>XTC

I love it when people actually think before posting. Good job at being logical, Montie
>>63716259
but you have shit taste and actively ruined post-punk discussion here man
XTC is one of the best new wave bands easy. Drums and Wires + Skylarking are amazing
theyre ok
overrated as fuck tho
>>63716440
Life Begins at the Hop is the best song of its decade mate
>>63716405
give the guy a break man
he's actually discussing music let him be
when he's shitposting you can rip on him
They're pretty good. Not my favorite band but I like all the stuff I've heard.
I haven't actually listened to a full album but I've had a hits compilation from them in my itunes for like 5 years now. Generals and Majors, Mayor of Simpleton, and Making Plans for Nigel are great songs.

Alright I'll leave him be this time man

Skylarking is one of those albums that I love but none of my friends would ever understand.
Fuck, I'm gonna put Summer's Cauldron, Grass and Earn Enough For Us on now.

>not putting on the album
100% pleb
>>63715966
honestly one of my favourite albums of all time.
but the reason I prefer Drums & Wires to their later stuff >>63716114 is because of the guitar work. I don't understand why a band that is so skilled and so in sync with one another on their instruments would trade them in for synthesizers. Obviously there's still guitar work throughout their catalogue, but their guitar arrangements are simply some of the best of all New Wave and Post-punk. You get the funky yet aggressive rhythms of Gang of Four, the noodly licks and jangly tones of powerpop, really active, melodic bass playing in line with a lot of the afropop-inspired stuff of the era... just excellent excellent stuff.

Might be a tad overstatement, but yes. What a track. A perfect example of the guitar work translating into timeless pop songcraft.
>>63716741
Their older stuff sounds more like a "band". A lot more muscle.
Once they got super into post-production it became more about the "songs".
underrated? probably not, lots of people love them
best....yeah.....thats true....Good fucking album!!!!!!
