1979 existed
1968-1972 brought us bands like The Stooges, MC5, Alice Cooper. Black Sabbath, and the like. The Who even got good or a few minutes with albums like Live at Leeds and Who's Next. Even Deep Purple and Elton John had their moments. Can't say it was the BEST period, but I can't argue that we didn't have some mighty fine tunes, either.
