Ya but I mean sonically. Like Sung Tongs went acoustic and tribal, MPP was hazy and blurry, CHz was noisy, this is just way too sugary psych pop with little to boast it's claim. I hated On Delay, I hated Recycling, the only tracks I could really stand were Floridada and Golden Gal

The sonic theme with this album is fucking dry vocals (which they haven't really done before), and layered sounds inspired by Dadaism

It has some of their worst lyrics (bagels for everyone! makes "the frightened babies poo" seem subtle) and it is the absolute least "sonically diverse" record they've put out.

they even said they wanted the record to have a homogenous sound. Which they accomplished, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing.

I will admit that it is catchy, even the songs I actively dislike

I still listen to Sauna, I sort of like the shorter form tracks

Seeing all these songs live really changed my outlook on the album for the better. Almost every song was way better live.
The burglers, golden gal, summing the wretch, hocus pocus, and vertical were amazing.
The only ones that kinda sucked were lying in the grass and floridada because there was no low end and the samples were quiet.

i dunno, the sound design just felt a little outta date. those boinky synths and uncanny sounds felt very reminiscent of the stranger hemlock stuff around ~2009 and even a bit pc music-ish. had they released this album two or three years ago it would have felt a bit more fresh to my ears.
