I never come here. I was expecting to see a jazz thread, or a classical thread. I'm hoping that some of you could direct me to some jazz that goes easy on the trumpets. I guess something with more piano and bassiness. But whatever you youngsters have will do.

Well, I looked through the catalog. It's a jazz thread, anyhow.
This one is piano/bass/drums trio. It's fantastic.
Another Bill Evans. This one is a trio also, but less traditional. There's more interplay between the instruments with interesting and engaging progressions.

the album that Ellington did with Max Roach and Mingus is tight
This is a great hard bop album with saxophone lead and no trumpets. There's some big players here. Quite underrated.

One more -- Stanton Moore did a jazz trio album a couple of years ago which is pretty cool. It doesn't have the greatest flow but there are some gems on it.
