>>
how the hell hasnt this album leaked yet?
>>
>>63671489
I don't fucking know, dude. It's pissing me off. There was a low quality leak of Jacked Up which sounds like a generic hip-hop/pop song (but still loveable imo): http://tower-28.tumblr.com/post/141640693627/tower-28-leak-of-jacked-up-by-weezer-off-the
And the other was Girl (We Got a Good Thing) which is pretty decent. The album is supposed to have a beach-y sound. http://vocaroo.com/i/s0xyItKgH49g
>>
>>63671587
Well heres shitty recordings of all of the unreleased songs... Not as good as a leak but its something

https://www.sendspace.com/file/jkfynx
>>
do albums like this just not leak anymore?
>>
>whaaa whaaa why didn't I get my music for free before the artist even puts it out!
Weezerfags everyone
>>
>>63671732
I'm sure most people that keen for a leak have already preordered the album anyway.
It's also annoying because there are shitty clips out and tempting people.
>>
>>63671703
EWBAITE leaked so i was hoping this would
>>
>>63671761
1) [citation needed]
2) It's post-Pinkerton Weezer
>>
Seriously have to congratulate the label and whoever for actually keeping it under wraps like that.

As far as the actual album quality, I'm pretty blown away so far. here's hoping the next 5 tracks are just as good.
>>
>>63671825
I really like the beach-y sound they were swinging for. Rivers said he's almost finished with the Black Album and it has a totally different sound.
>>
>>63671806
Considering Weezer's upswing lately, I have no shame in being excited for this new album.
>>
>>63671806
Post pinkerton weezer has some of the best weezer songs ever though.

Green Albums is simple, but underrated.

Maladroit is fucking sick and raw.

Make Believe has shitty lyrics but some catchy damn songs. Most weezer fans would disagree but i love Beverly Hills. I also love Perfect Situation.

The Red Album...So good. Except the the songs Rivers didnt write. Angel and the One is my favorite Weezer track.

Raditude is trash

Hurley is extremely underrated.

Everything will be alright was decent.

White will rock.

The only Bad album theyve put out is raditude.
>>
>>63671899
hurley was shit
>>
>>63671920
Bullshit its great. It gets a bad rap because it came out right after raditude.
>>
>>63671920
you're wrong
>>
>>63671947
Well, it's barely a "weezer" album. It has some "good" songs, but it's utterly forgettable.
>>
>current year
>weezer

wew
>>
Okay heres an actual question. Which is better? Hurley or Make Believe?
>>
>>63671985
Make Believe. This shouldnt even be a question
>>
>>63671985
hurley easily
>>
>>63671985
Make Believe
>>
>>63672012

All these problems on my mind
Make it hard for me to think
There is no way I can stop
My poor brain is gonna' pop

Thats some deep shit.
>>
>>63671985
make believe for sure
>>
Can we all agree that In The Mall is the song that defined a generation though?
>>
I swear the Weezer album cycle is akin to the Sonic game cycle
>>
>>63672072
Where did all these smart girls come from?
I don't think that I could choose just one
Where did all these smart girls come from?
Someone tell me how to get me some

Make Believe atleast has some genuine songs on it like Perfect Situation and Peace. Hurley is soulless and generic, and not even that catchy
>>
>>63672125
In The Garage was better.

>>63672173
>>63672072
Make Believe was a fucking fun album. Hurley and Raditude are so uninspired.
I hate to say it but My Best Friend is a guilty pleasure as cheesy as the chorus sounds.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaOEI0NGlvk
>>
>>63672173
lol, yeah was hoping people would forget that one... well played. I just like hurley because it sounds less poppy.
>>
>>63671899
This is pretty much my thoughts exactly.

Raditude is their only truly horrible release. Make Believe does have some garbage and the lyrics can get pretty bad but there's a lot of catchy songs. Though I don't really care for Beverly Hills anymore.
>>
>>63671920
>hurley was shit
It really wasn't. There's a few clunkers but it's amazing how much they rebounded with it after Raditude.
>>
>>63672223
Agreed.

So besides Can't Stop Partying, what Weezers songs are really bad?
>>
>>63672162
Shit. That's eerily accurate. Here's hoping they don't pull a Sonic Boom in the near future
>>
has rivers accepted his baldness yet
>>
>>63672162
This is bullshit and you know it lmao
>>
>2016
>dick-riding a band that sucked hard back in the day
>assessment complete
Plebs
>>
>>63672250
In The Mall. I was kidding when i mentioned it above. Its horrible.

Thought I Knew
Cold Dark World
Automatic

These alone are what make the Red Album the worst 'Weezer' album.

Smart Girls is pretty bad.

I personally cant stand Space Rock
>>
>>63672320
Agreed. these are horrible.
>>
>>63672250
There are atleast 3 or 4 songs on each album since maladroit that are bad.
>>
why does weezer just do the cringiest shit, state farm songs, grown men on a trampoline, working with miranda cosgrove? bloody hell
>>
Listening to some of the leaked songs from White Album. ''Summer Elaine and Drunk Dori'' is easily the best song so far. It's like an unreleased Blue Album song.
>>
>>63672316
>sucked hard back in the day
lol
>>
>>63672250
Everybody get Dangerous
Love is the Answer
Freak Me Out

Most of their albums after green have a couple truly terrible songs.

On a lighter note, do you guys remember those initial ewbaite leak threads on mu? Some really heartfelt communal vibes going on there, one of my favorite memories from this place
>>
>>63672382
Oh yeah i also HATE Go Away. I cannot believe they made that a single. Easily their worst single ever.

I was wrong, I hurt your feelings when I did what I did
I learned my lesson I'll stop acting like a kid

Jesus
>>
>>63671897
>upswing lately,
Yeah maladroit was pretty good, I'll give you that
>>63671899
Confirmed for fourth generation Weezer fan. You gotta be 18, 19 tops.
>>
if anyone can source a leak for this you are a hero. there are many physical copies out there rn.
>>
>>63672320
>Automatic
jesus, fuck that song. Red Album was a mistake. but Red album still has it's tunes (just not the ones that Rivers didn't write). This is why Rivers is the writer. He fucks up but he can write a song.
>>63672467
Genuinely surprised no one was talking about them recently. I saw some Pinkerton threads but no mention of the new album. They really fucked up with the singles they released in prep for the album. Listening to a few of the leaks now and they're are some fucking good songs that sound like Blue Album.
>>
>>63672467
Aw i love Everybody Get Dangerous. The ninja sword line is one of my favorite weezer lines.
>>
>>63672509
The only real leaks are really low-quality. Someone posted a link earlier in the thread, check it out.
>>
>>63672497
23. I didnt listen to Weezer until i heard Pork and Beans on the radio. I was late to the party i know.
>>
I can't stop listening to Wind in Our Sails, goddamn this album is good
>>
>>63672320
>Automatic
Honestly better than some of Rivers' songs on that one. I can't remember Thought I Knew and Cold Dark World was cringe worthy overall but the chorus was passable because Rivers sang and pretty sure he co-wrote it.

But Automatic was a solid song. That was the drummers song right?
>>
>>63672555
Yeah, that's somebody recording a speaker with a phone. I know for a fact this thing is in the hands of a lot of people and has been for a couple of days.
>>
>>63672610
Yeah Cold Dark World is one of the better songs on Red. The verses are terrible, but the chorus are bridge are great. Automatic is one of the worst imo
>>
>>63671732
well considering they already gave half the fucking album away don't you think it's a bit stupid to not just stream the rest?
>>
>>63671806
1) you're a nigger
2) you're a faggot
>>
>>63671899
>Hurley is extremely underrated

maybe if the production wasn't pure dogshit and the songs weren't 1/4 complete upon release maybe it would be better. It's 10x worse then raditude from a dignity, promotional, sales, and artistic standpoint. At least raditude had the balls to move in a new direction, Hurley is the worst example of damage control in recent memory, and it wasn't even good.
>>
Just so you guys are aware. The leak is available in another /mu/ thread.
>>
>>63673037
it's not legit though
>>

So is everyone in agreement that EWBAITE is a Top 5 Weezer album?

It's right on #5 for me.
>>
>>63673570
EWBAITE is in top 5 definitely.

but I think White Album may surpass it.
>>
>>63673570
SFTBH >= Pinkerton > Blue > (White Album, tent.) > EWBAITE > Maladroit > (powergap) > Green > Make Believe > Red > Hurley > (powergap) > Raditude
>>
>>63673570

Blue
Pink
Green
Red
White
>>
>>63673651
Come on, ranking with SFTBH? Ranking it above Pinkerton?
>>
>>63673616
Depends.

The Green Album is in my Top 5 as well, but honestly I don't have much love for it besides reminding me of good times in high school. I wouldn't mind removing it from my Top 5 if the White Album turns out to be really good.
>>
>>63673570
I know how faggish this, but not only is EWBAITE my favorite album since Pinkerton and i love every song, but I think it's almost Pinkerton levels of good.
>>
>>63673570
pinkerton
blue
maladroit
white
green
>>
>>63673696
SFTBH was everything that Pinkerton aimed to be. Had it been completed, it wouldve blown Pinkerton out of the water, in both musicmanship and coherency.
The only things that Pinkerton has over SFTBH are Pink Triangle and Good Life, maybe El Scorcho too, hence, greater than or equal to
>>
>>63673651
Lolol this is my exact order as well. Nice job anon.
>>
>>63671899
>THOSE GOD DAMN REDCOATS
>>
I really tried to not listen to any singles but boredom strikes and this thread was convenient.

Thank god for girls sounds like a panic at the disco song or some shit. I dunno. Very modern alternative pop.

Then I listened to do you wanna get high and I got fucking pissed off. I only made it halfway through. Do they really have the fucking audacity to release a 20 something year old song on their latest record at a feeble attempt for sales and publicity?
If this album sucks as bad commercially as their last then it's finally gonna be curtains.
>>
>>63673781
But it wasn't completed. As it stands, SFTBH is a string of demos that doesn't stand up to most finished Weezer records. If we were judging on Potential, Green and Red should be way up there. Raditude would be much higher, etc.
>>
>>63673947
The fun part is that DYWGH is brand new.
>>
>>63673964
SFTBH is still more of a fun listen than Pinkerton, even in demo form. Weezers protection in their early days wasnt that clean anyways, so even in demo form the album still holds up.
>>
>>63673994
Sure is fun to copy a 20 year old fucking sound.
If they're coming out with a new album they should try to make new music but clearly they can't fucking do that right.
>>
>>63674028
>If they're coming out with a new album they should try to make new music
Yea well the last time they tried that shit went wrong and we got Make Believe through Hurley
>>
What you guys all think of this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiPsG7Yjrvk
>>
>>63672884
Don't you think it's bit stupid to tell the artist what they should do with their music?
>>
>>63674028
The entire album strikes a nice balance of throwback with modern influence and then some beach boys thrown in for good measure.
Who cares if they revisit that old sound? They haven't done that since the 90s, so to get that sound back and put a spin on it isn't exactly "stale".
>>
>>63674125
Yeah me painting a moustache over the Mona Lisa isn't stale at all. I'm revisiting a classic with new flair. Simple as that. And hell to throw some Picasso in there too I'll droop one of her eyes down.

I don't understand why you're all making beach boys connections just based off the fact that the white album has a "beach vibe". Just shows you have no idea what you're fucking talking about. There's a difference between surf rock and singing directly about California over and over again.
>>
>>63672320
Never understood why people hate space rock
>>
>>63674222
Then listen to the goddamn whole album like I have before you said they're just singing about California over and over again.
>>
>>63671429
Wow i just realized how much they used the colors blue green and red in that TGFG video. Neat.
>>
>>63674392
I don't consider a 1:53 sound clip with random noises to be a song.
>>
>>63674465
Did we hear the same song? Is not the best but it's not that bad, and most of the songs on green and Maladroit were really short
>>
>>63674535
Yeah but I'd say most are over 2.40. Idk I think it's also gets a bad rap because that's the song Rivers tried to write with the fans and he ended up blowing up at them and caused a big disconnect for a while
>>
>>63674103

L.A. Girlz is the best single IMO.

yeah I didn't say white is going to be a bad album, Im really hype for it I love the singles except for thank god for girls.

>>
>>63675826
Solid write-up, bad score. I think a 7 would be more apt.

And what's with the claim that Rivers copped the arrangement for TGFTG from Stairway? Just because of the a capella ending? Who thinks like that?
>>
>>63671429
People have to stop thinking Weezer are on some kind of upturn. There are like only a couple of moments in these new tracks so far that have that classic Weezer (ie. Blue/Pinkerton) vibe - the wooo-ooo-ooooh harmonies and chunkier chords in the second chorus of in California Kids and most of King of the World which could be mistaken for a Blue Album b-side if it had slightly rougher production.

The rest is fucking dross, just like most of EWBAITE (yes it was shit) and every other album from Green onwards.
>>
Matt Sharp was an integral part of the beginning of Weezer.

Don't understand what is so hard for people to grasp this yet. He had a lot of influence on Rivers earlier decisions within the group. He also brought out the awkward, lightheartedness of the groups sometimes darker songs with his hilariously intriguingstage antics.

Nobody gives that guy enough credit. Matt's even gone on record to say back then and even now that if it wasn't for his input, rivers would have gone all-out pop.
>>
>>63688050
I will love Matt Sharp forever.

Did he bang Kennedy? Is that why Rivers is so mopey?

>Matt Sharp was an integral part of the beginning of Weezer.
No he wasn't, any Weezer fan would know that. It's like I'm reading the fucking youtube comments.
Pat on the other hand was, but Rivers will and always be the mastermind behind all the music (good or bad) Weezer has made.

Anyway great album, 3rd best for me as well. Was pleasantly surprised by Jacked Up

Anyone here going to see them? I'm going to the Mansfield MA show.

Not who you replied to, but I think both of you guys are wrong about some stuff and right about other things.
I don't think Pinkerton or Blue would have been more silly/poppy without Matt. The grunge influence was still somewhat present at this time. The band kind of just changed with the times.
Back in the '90s when they were younger they were obviously more relevant and could dick around. Now it's just a bunch of dads making music. Matt Sharp would not fix that.
I think his vocals, oddball bass lines, and his influence with the synth made Pinkerton really special. However, I think it was still mostly the (lack of) production. These new albums have some great songs but seem way too over produced. Do You Wanna Get High has a lot of Pinkerton elements to it, but it's still too over produced. I really think the song is missing Matt's vocals more than any other post Pinkerton song.

Goddamn you're right

What is it with peoples' infatuation over this band? It just sounds like pretty generic rock music. I don't hear any subtle nuances or intricacies that make it stand out stylistically. Like it's not bad music but I swear people jizz so hard over Weezer

It's nostalgia, anon. Their music brings us back to a simpler time.

>>63692325
Pretty much this. There music is kind of like comfort food for me.

Makes sense I guess. Their music is something I feel like I would leave on in the background while I'm in a car with friends or while I'm doing work

La girlz is my favorite so far

looks like they just fucked around at the beach and used that footage for most of the videos.
