I was just listening to the first Bosse-de-Nage, the one that collects earlier demos; it's not bad at all. It still has the 90s post-hardcore influence but it's significantly decreased, the vocalist is more -but not completely- traditionally wretched and it's nowhere near as emotionally saturated. It sounds more like a second wave band that has heard some Sonic Youth or Fugazi.

Alright, this sounds a lot like Henry Cow. The weird shifts between various contrasting moments, odd instrumentation shooting out of nowhere, this screams Henry Cow to me. I can hear a bit of Zeuhl influence but I'd call it something like Metal in Opposition rather than Zeuhl Metal.

I agree that it's great, they're one of my favourite electronic acts, but that doesn't change the fact that they're definitely accepted as part of the IDM Canon, most of the people here who have listened to any IDM have heard Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, ae, and Board of Canada. That's just how it is.
