It is fun in the same way collecting anything at all is fun. You even have the benefit of it overlapping with another hobby and thus have the opportunity to use them, unlike if you collected something with no other use than appearance.

There are still some releases solely available on tape, either because they have not been ripped yet or all the rips are of unbelievably bad quality.

I was on tour with a friends band and we were just passing through to play a show. We went to waterloo (like everybody told us to) and I was actually super disappointed. It was the same commercial record shop that ever city in the country has, literally nothing special about it. I got this at end of an ear which was actually a really tight shop, great selection and prices with that mom and pop feel to it. Massive tape selection too.

Wew. You must be an entry level indie fan or something. Tons of stuff I like only exists on cd. And a lot of quiet music sounds bad on vinyl, for instance classical on vinyl is often shit.

You are not buying physical medium for the sound quality. If you cared about that you would listen to the digital file.
If its only available on CD, then get the CD. But otherwise you should get the vinyl.

Most DIY artist's release on cassette, but it's slowly getting more and more expensive because shit like Urban Outfitters hopping on and and driving up the demand for it. So it's kinda like where vinyl was 7 years ago, and I'm worried the cycle will repeat it's self we've already seen the price of cassettes go up 10% in the past year.
i haven't bought any tapes in months because i have them lined on top of my computer desk and there's no room and i'm too lazy to find some way to fit any more ugh
