Hey guys, my dad was a huge audiophile, just before he died...I never went all crazy about hi-fidelity apparatuses as he did, now I'm feeling nostalgic digging up all sorts of stuff and I found this yuan-jing tube amp. How do I connect it properly?

i see an on switch, a 12v power jack, what appears to be jacks for L R rca cables, a gain knob and what might be an auxiliary in.

you should be able to figure this out as an intelligent human being

No idea what I'm doing wrong, this is it connected and all I'm hearing is a low monotonous hum.

Please verify I'm using the right cables, and does the red/white matter? It's not that I'm not intelligent, I just honestly never tried this.

looks about right tried turning up the gain?
Also aux is headphones/speakers and rca cables are inputting (wew) something?
>>

RCA cables are connected to the PC audio jack...should work, no?
Also, stupid question, does it matter what kind of transformer I use, I just saw that first anon said 12V power jack and my transformer says 9V...
>>
>>63616463
The more I think about it the more I'm sure that's the problem...now where the fuck am I going to find a 12V one...

An amplifier will amplify whatever you put into it. In the cast of a computer output jack, that would include the noise bleed from adjacent circuits, which is probably the buzz that you're hearing.

And yes, the power supply matters. It should be matched to the spec of the unit. If you look on the bottom side of the PCB somewhere near the DC jack you should see a label with the voltage.

Maplin/RadioShack/eBay? I think you should probably still be able to hear music though even if the voltage is low, but definitely get the right power supply. Is there a current rating on the amp, any numbers with an A next to it? ie 3A

I found the writing near the power jack it says DC 24V...how the heck am I supposed to supply this voltage?!

Dude... Maplin or RadioShack or eBay or Google

Try going to a pc repair shop and seeing if they have any supplies that fit
>>
update: 20V laptop transformer did it, it's a bit garbled, but I think that if I'll just find a good transformer it'll work.

Thanks anons!

1) Not from the US/UK/EU
2) Nighttime so shops are closed.
3) TEH FEELS!
4) Thanks anyway.

The right voltage supply will probably make the ic's more stable ie. Way better sound and lower noise, but it's good to hear that it's working, it's a pretty cool looking amp
>>
>>63617139
Yup, he has tons of cool stuff, and the funny thing is that I'm trying to use those things and I have no idea how precious/good they actually are...I never really had the time to appreciate any of this. For example, laying before me are 3 pairs of headphones, Beyerdynamics DT880 PRO, BOSE Quietcomfort 15 limited edition ( I think...with brown leather all around ), and an unidentified, but still, I'm sure, very high-end JBL braided earbuds.

pretty jealous desu, always wanted a tube amp but have never been able to afford one. Thought about making one, but the only places selling the right kind of transformers seem to be boutiques asking for hundreds of pounds for a cheap one. Looking at your amp though, it looks like transformers aren't even necessary, so maybe there's hope still :D
