Is this band a meme?

Seems like some old bloke talking over repetitive and often generic riffs.

And how is his wife so hot?

Redpill me on The Fall
>>
what's your opinion on having fun?
>>
Listen to: This Nation's Saving Grace, Hex Induction Hour, and Live At The Witch Trials

They're a good band but not for everyone

I like to have fun.

What are their best 90s songs
>>
My first experience with The Fall was the CD version of Perverted By Language which had a couple of their non-album singles appended to the album preceding the actual album tracks. It struck for a pretty nice balance between their most willfully repetitive and abrasive material(the album) and somewhat more streamlined tracks and accessible tracks(the singles and their B-sides), stuff that I could get into as someone who loved The Birthday Party but still thought Chrome was too weird.
So I recommend that album. It's got great grooves, great nasty guitarwork, a really ugly and surreal atmosphere and some of Smith's best lyrics and delivery. The experience of living a nightmarish dead-end life in a nightmarish dreary dead-end small town in audio form.

They were probably at their patchiest in the 90s(though even then they delivered several essential albums: Levitate, The Marshall Suite and Code: Selfish) but even during that decade, when they were good, they were really fucking good.

I always liked these a lot.

Most of those early to mid 90s Fall albums were let down by really feeble and badly aged production though; I'll take just about every Peel version of those tracks over their studio album counterparts.

Shut them cunts up!

This Nation's Saving Grace is without question one of my favorites of all time. The Wonderful and Frightening World of the Fall is right up there too.
>>
Second that
I've listened them a while back and again last september and nothing stuck on me or made me feel like i was listening to something relevant
>>
What does Mark E Smith contribute to the songwritung
>>
>>63553787
No idea. He's got songwriting credits on a shitload of Fall songs but I dunno about the specifics.

I like them a lot. I haven't found anything else in music to be as scornful as mark e smith's vocal delivery. It sort of draws you into siding with his perspective on whatever he's deciding to disparage. The repetitive, tribal instrumentation helps to reinforce whatever messages he's trying to get across.

Generic by what standard? I'm really not even sure what you mean by this.

his wife is so fucking waifu
>>
>>63554140

literally recycling old riffs

see barmy stealing from "valleri" by the monkees

i hear tons of straight up recycked riffs a lot in their sings
>>
>>63554434
The Fall's covers and reworkings of 50s-60s rock 'n' roll classics are one of their most long-running traditions.
>>
Somene give me more songs like "Spinetrak", I fucking love that track.

By The Fall or any band
>>
>>63554434
That may be true, but they still have a distinguishable sound that sets them apart from other groups even if they share some similarities when it comes to the guitar

From what I've heard the musicians show him songs and riffs, and he selects the best ones and makes them repeat those endlessly. He also used to play guitar and percussion of some of their earlier albums. Also he writes the lyrics
