Absolutely fucking unbelievable. This is the worst news I've heard in weeks.
FLCL was a good thing. Good things ought to be left alone. And they're not even bringing back the original staff, or Pillows.
Much of FLCL's charm was in its brevity. More was in its OST, and its animation. None of that will be present in this reboot.
I want to kill whoever had this terrible idea.
I would've wanted more FLCL. But that means FLCL originally being 13 episodes or whatever instead of 6. Going back to it now with different teams is pointless.
I mean, FLCL has a special place in its fans hearts. It's deeply tied into their experiences of puberty and adolescence, a certain time in life. Haruko left at the end and life returned to normal. That was (partially) the big takeaway. You have to eventually grow up and leave all of this behind. You can't hang around under that bridge forever. You still have the guitar and the photograph for keepsakes. But... you can't go home again.

they do intend to bring the pillows back actually, and considering that single from their next album i'm sure they'll knock it out of the park
