Is thinking this album is challenging some kind of meme? I mean I love it but I love it because it's so instantly satisfying. Can't really see how anyone could listen to some of these songs and not think they are pleasing

Well for me I thought it was ok for a while and only really liked Only Shallow. Only recently have I gotten to appreciate the noise and get into the trance-like state it brings.

It's just not as straightforward and punchy as their other tracks are. death grips is what made me open up to more music, so I had to give it quite a few listens and breaks to get into it. even with TMS back when it came out.
