I can't really get into Post Punk. There is something inside this genre that I am just not picking up. Most of the time it just sounds like standard rock music with a slightly darker tone.
Iceage's Plowing is one of my favorite albums though, but to me it seems like most other music that gets classified as Post Punk doesn't really compare sound-wise anyway. I don't know.
Maybe I don't WANT to see it because it's usually associated with emotions I currently try to avoid. That's the only explanation I have.

Post punk I think was a large influence on alternative rock later on so you're probably hearing that. I think it's a pretty broad genre though with stuff sounding like standard rock like you said all the way to some avant-garde-ish stuff. There's a pretty good chart floating around that I suggest looking at.

Pop punk and ska punk is for autistic manchildren and dumbass emo girls. Fuck pop punk. There's nothing worse than meeting a girl who's still hung up on The Offspring and Blink 182 and Reel Big Fish. Fuck.

one of the easiest albums to "get"
great emotional singing
great lyrics
great instrumentation
some people might dislike it because they think the instrumentation is to pompous and overdone but thats the only thing you can dislike about it
I personally love it
