Alright /mu/, I'm interested in listening to more Elvis, though I don't want to waste my time trudging through all the garbage, and he's released dozens of albums. What's the essential Elvis?

Skip Elv*s and go straight to the R&B singers he stole his career from.

You should start out with this masterpiece. One of the greatest live albums ever.

>he stole his career from
>he literally has his own unique sound
>implying Fats Domino didn't steal his songs from early country singers

Here's the deal with Elvis OP.
He has two sides to his career; the 50's rock n roll side. And the operatic ballad singer 60-70 side.
Both are amazing, but Elvis wasn't really an "Album" artist. All his songs are more like hit singles.
I would just save some time and listen to this.

That isn't really a great example though because he has TONS more great songs. I'll try to hunt them down for you op.
If you REALLY want to go the album route, his first two rock the hardest.
suspicious minds is his best song. fight me.

Gospel, Christmas songs, and movies. I know. I've been listening to Elvis my entire life due to my mom. I knew the lyrics to If I Can Dream when I was 10
