Earl's technical ability is better than Kendrick's but what he's missing is the production. I hope he goes with a more varied beat selection for his next project.

These are his two biggest problems I think. It seems obvious he has/had the skill to have complied a much better back catalog than he currently does. Production could definitely do with being more varied.

I'll be pretty disappointed if he just keeps doing this slow, sludgy production in his next album. On the other hand though, I like that he's making music he likes. He has a sound that I think will keep him memorable long after he's stopped rapping, and I think that's cool.

It would be cooler if he had a (sorry for using this analogy, I know people do it too often) Kid A moment in his next album. Your fourth album I feel is a pretty good time to start mixing it up a lot.

Earl is criminally underrated. Guy has the densest flow since Eminem. I really like his dark vibe too, overall just really interesting music to listen to.

I really want to like Earl's work, but he just doesn't interest me on a musical level.

He's actually good enough at production that he could make an 80% jazz instrumental album with very tightly-written rap/poetry/spoken-word shit on top of it, and I think it would be really good.

Which actually seems like the logical conclusion of what he's been making, so maybe that's a bad idea.

Maybe he just needs to either except he's a poet, or wake the fuck up when he's rapping. Either direction will put him in better standing I think.
