Vroom Vroom (the song) is pretty much the pinnacle of pc music so far imo. quirky production with amazing hooks that doesnt sacrifice decent songwriting to achieve it. other tracks range from good to ok, but vroom vroom is brilliant

I think we can all agree that Taylor Swift progressed to the 1989 sound and made a popular album BUT that success was also a product of timing, since Katy, Gaga, and Lorde were all either awol or 1.5 years past their last album. Basically, it felt like pop was in a vacuum from all of that, with Taylor the only major star. Even Miley was a year out of her Wrecking Ball virality.
So I think from that, Taylor didn't do anything different and hasn't heavily proven a turning point or future for pop (her sound wasn't even unique at all), but Charli wrote that Icona Pop song and had 2 albums with hit singles (2012-2015) and popular guest spots, and Lorde was popularized be being a lot softer that Katy or Gaga in the SAME year (2013) that Katy and Gaga released their albums.
