Why is so much Hip Hop, void of poetic metaphor, symbolism, or any sense of deeper meaning other than the direct etymology of the diction itself?
I'm honestly completely confused about this.
I've been scanning artists and have only found very few who are able to convey multiple layers of meaning.
I see this top 10 lists of the most "intelligent hip hop songs", But they are incredibly simplistic and only seem to be an an expression of culture, and the message is baby fed to the listener.
Do any of you guys have suggestions of an artist who is a lot more poetic in the lyrics?

Because lusty negro attitudes
Can Ox - Pigeon is the best example of metaphor in hip-hop imo
Because it's incredibly shallow music by nature? The main focus to the genre are words. No rapper alive could create a piece of music to save their lives.

That's the thing, the main focus of hip hop is words.
They therefore should be more artful with their words

You need educated people to do that, most of the rappers were part of the working class, the same happened in rock, prog rock and art rock bands were all formed by middle class people who went to college, except Frank Zappa.

You have to understand that Rap is not exactly ran by people who read Schopenhauer all they do is talk about their lives with a very limited vocabulary.
aesop rock
hip-hop follows its own code of aesthetics and doesn't adhere to rockist concepts like 'originality' and 'technical ability', you only hold it to the same standards because you are intolerant and a racist
