It's not about whether the artist is praised by reddit, it's about how much the artist is praised by reddit.
I do enjoy both Slint and Bowie mind you, but it's quite arguable that both are less praised by reddit as a whole than Joy Division are (New Order is basically the same thing as Joy Division, just that they're cashing out on the "dude lead singer suicide lmoa" gimmick). Not only that but we also have to take into account how much said artist fufills reddit stereotypes (nearly all of which ring true). Queen fufill these stereotypes to a near perfect level, and Joy Division come running directly after.

new order isn't any different in its appeal from other popular and critically acclaimed albums they praise. queen is considered /r/music-core because queen are often received poorly by critics (pitchfork gave their reissues a 6.7), as are gorillaz, but new order are universally liked so it doesn't make sense to defer to reddit. maybe if you can offer some real criticism on why the album is shit then i'll take you seriously.
