Post your favorite song from when you were 14.

AFI - Girl's Not Grey

At the time, I thought the was a cut above the usual pop punk/emo stuff, and I still like the video.

The video for this is fantastic. AFI were really good when they were transitioning between punk and hypergoth-pop. I remember seeing the vocalist crying in the snow wearing eyeliner around the time they started using that rabbit logo that ended up on every other emo girl's backpack and got mega turned off. When I got The Boy Who Destroyed the world stuck in my head and found out they did it, I looked into them more, and they have some really nice stuff.

Empty Words conveyed my then new
disillusionment with religion ("the answer can not be found/in the writing of others, or the words of a trained mind"), but in a way that was understanding rather than combative (In this precious world of memories/we find ourselves confined). The "empty words" part is highly emotionally adaptable to any lies.
Musically, it's very catchy and technical at the same time, and has one of the less repetitive song structures for death by virtue of a lot of different parts making it feel less like boring repetition, and more like a welcome return to another good part when something does repeat, something death didn't always excel at. The vocal/lead tradeoffs in the chorus(?) are a good example of what I mean by technical and catchy. The solo is emotional and memorable, and the rhythm guitar change halfway through it really works well, and the intro is evocative and mysterious sounding. It goes well with the album cover. I'm actually wearing my symbolic shirt right now, although I don't wear it out often cause I realized the fit is weird (I guess it probably wasn't when I was smaller).

Is all honest enthusiasm cringe?
I'm sure you can't actually explain what's wrong with me explaining why I felt strongly about a song, cause there's nothing wrong with it. People who apply the mentality of fashion to thought are the highest level of posers.
