why do you fucks never talk about julien baker?
sprained ankle is easily aoty 2015
She's great. I try not to listen to that album too much because I don't want it to lose it's emotional power for me

How do you figure? 6/10 at best friendo, her songs don't reach to any soaring heights. They're heartfelt, truly. But I don't see it as aoty in the least. Why do you think it is, anon?
my aoty 2015 as well. then again i didn't listen to too much.
But they're dull and forgettable, anon.
gotta be honest, I gave that album a try twice, but I just found it bland.

It's pretty good. It's not my AOTY, but it was up there.

I'll give it a third one, but what's the one thing that hooked you guys?

Oops, didn't mean to reply. Sorry bud.

Well, I don't know. I think it was the lyrics, cliche as it sounds. They deal with things a bit more mature than you'd expect out of someone her age, plus the religious overtures kind of resonated with me personally. Musically, I don't really think it treads any new ground, but it sounds alright. Her voice is fine, her guitar isn't offensive.. it all fits together, but the lyrics were really the big draw for me.

op here
juliens pure and unique voice paired with her minimalist guitar accompaniment struck a chord with me. her lyrics are authentic and her expression is genuine- i appreciate this

I really like her lyrics. There is better poetry in Rejoice than in all the shitty alt-lit gibberish of milennial writers tbqh.
