Yeah, Gilbert was one of Buckethead's instructors at the GIT in the late '80s (He also took some lessons from Joey Tafolla from Jag Panzer, who was another of Gilbert's students). As a result, quite a bit of Gilbert influence rubbed off on Buckethead, so quite a few people were convinced ~15-16 years ago that they were one and the same.
